POSITION OVERVIEW
Basic Rights Oregon seeks to fill two temporary, full time Field Organizer positions beginning in mid-October 2009. These positions will continue through late February 2010, with a possibility of extension. Field Organizers report to the Field Manager.
Field Organizers are primarily responsible for recruiting a large number of supporters of marriage equality to participate in our groundbreaking MyStory video testimony project. These positions will involve regular in-state travel.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Previous student, issue, electoral, community or labor organizing experience
- Demonstrated experience in volunteer recruitment and management
- Commitment to social justice, especially to ending homophobia and transphobia
- Demonstrated ability to problem-solve and work as part of a fast-paced team; and to prioritize and manage a variety of projects simultaneously
- Commitment to building a multi-racial team; experience working in multi-racial environments
- Comfortable speaking to small and large groups, approaching passersby at community events
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- High level of computer literacy ? managing spreadsheets, tracking data and interfacing with Web 2.0 tools; working knowledge of audio/visual software a plus
- Valid driver?s license and access to a car
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Recruit, mobilize and motivate a large and diverse pool of activists to record and distribute personal video statements in support of marriage equality
- Maintain administrative systems necessary to track volunteer participation
- Edit and upload videos using simple, drag-and-drop editing software
- Seek out and attend community events and meetings, primarily on evenings and weekends
- Organizing events geared toward recording large numbers of videos
- Travel across Oregon to mobilize volunteers
- Prepare written weekly and quarterly work plans and progress reports
- Perform other duties as assigned
Compensation: Commensurate with experience
